    Flushing toilet
I am having a problem flushing the toilet. If I use the handle in the norma way just a fdrop of water comes out. If I then hold it down, nothing further happens. In order for it to flush, I have to pump quickly several times.

    Hello Philand

If this is a recent development : what has happened ?
Normally this is due to a too low water level in the tank. That can be corrected by bending the floater slightly upwards, allowing more water to enter the tank.
Do that slightly , or you get overflow problems.
Draw a line just above the current water line, and make sure to raise the waterlevel only a couple of milimeters, and repeat that till the problem is solved.

    Success !

    :)

Sounds like your tank adjustments are off. Check the tank water level, it should be at the mark in the tank or 3/8 to 1/2" below the top of the over flow tube. Now look at the flapper, If it has wavy edges on the flat surface, replace it. The linkage between the flapper and the flush lever should have 1/4" play when the tank is filled. Also, check the small tube coming out of the top of the ballcock and make sure it's connect to and draining into the white overflow tube. Hope this helps, Tom
