Am I just a jealous friend?
My best friend started dating this guy a week after she broke up with her boyfriend of 4 years and a few months before moving away to college. For the time between then and now, she's spending a whole bunch of time and almost every night (not sleep over) most weeks with this boy unless she planned a piece of a day with her friends to go do something like movies or eating then she goes right to the boys house or his friends house. For some reason I'm hating this so much. I guess it's the fact that my best friend is leaving out of state to go to college and it's my 2nd best friend whom has moved in the past 2 years so it's hard especially since she's been the best friend ever. I think she should be spending this last couple weeks she has with her true friends and family before leaving instead of a boy that's just making her feel warm and fuzzy now and he's just going to be another thing to be upset about when leaving. So I'm now stuck at home instead of being out spending as much time with my best friend while she's out with this boy. Am I a jealous friend or what??
    -Confused & upset :(

Its normal to feel left out but you need to find you a life whether it is a boyfriend or a hobby or whatever you can't rely on your best friend to be responsible for your happiness.
Maybe sometime when you get a chance to talk to her you can tell her that she means a lot to you and you miss all the good times and you really don't want to lose them and hope for more.

With work right now it's hard to keep up a hobby because it's go to work then time to come home. Before he came along everything was fine and we had a blast. Now she's leaving in a week and even if we have spent a decent amount of time together, I'd like to keep it going while we still have all this time before she leaves this state. She's got me through life these past 2 years basically because I've had a very unstable point up to recently and without a friend like her I couldn't have done it. So I guess I do understand why I'm feeling the way I do, but its nice to talk about to someone and see what everyone else says and maybe options.

I understand and bf's often don't last as long as best friends so through thick and thin hopefully she will always count you as a friend in the long run.
Have you told her you really would like to spend some time with her before she leaves?

Well I mean, we have been spending time together, it's in bits and pieces during the days. But I guess I'm just used to how much we used to hang out before this boy so it feels a lot different even though were spending a decent amount of time together as it is. Ive mentioned the whole thing about how I feel about a month ago and she felt super bad and was sooooo sorry and she said she guesses she just kind of hoped I wouldn't notice or mind or whatever. She's really upset about leaving for college and leaving everything familiar to her now so I don't want to bring this upon her again because that's something else for her to be upset about. So I guess I feel silenced because I don't want to bring it up again. But I question to myself "why is she spending so much time with a boy she is just having a "summer fling" with?? And why start something so soon after breaking up with a boyfriend of 3 years when its just someone else to get upset about leaving?

Yeah but I meant it would be nice if she makes time to spend at least an evening with you before she goes have you said anything about that to her? Maybe ask her if she is free anytime before she leaves so you can spend a little time with her but you want to check with her before making special plans.
