Blower to Furnace and Air Conditioning
My blower (I am assuming) that circulates air from my furnace and AC is making a ringing noise. I shut the AC off; but after a couple hours I started getting a ringing noise from the unit, so I shut it off from the main switch. The next day, I was able to run the AC for a while; but because I didn't want to take any chances of a fire, I shut if off during the night from the main switch again. This morning, when I turned the main switch on again, it started up immediately with making a screeching/ringing noise, so I shut it off from the main switch again before leaving for work. Any suggestions as it is going to take me 15 days before I can get anyone out to look at it!

    Thanks!

Sounds like the blower motor. The assembly should be inspected and lubed if possible. If you have the tools and the knowledge take it apart and check it if not call for professional ON SITE service.

Air conditioning blower [ 2 Answers ]

Thank you for your last answer. You mentioned that the blower could be responsible for the scratch-like sounds coming from the duct. What do you recommend? I have a homeowners policy that covers air-conditioning but I didn't know if this was something I could fix myself. Thanks
