Given Permission to Travel Out of State, but.
I got convicted of a first time misdemeanor dui and just recently received my formal probation instructions and info. Nothing in the documents stipulates interstate travel and whether I am allowed or more importantly whether I am not. If I wasn't allowed to travel, would the information I received say this?

Also, I called before I received these documents and instruction letter and was told by the clerk that I was "ok to go" per the probation officer on staff that day. Should I trust that?

*note: my formal probation is handled completely through the mail it appears... also this is in California

Just because someone over the phone said it was okay to do something I would not risk violation of probation. I would go down in person and get a piece of paper authorizing you to be out of the state from such and such a date to such and such a date and where you intend on going. Keep this paper on you at all times until you are back in your home state and at home. When you do get back from wherever, call and let the PO know that you are back. Stupider things can happen if you just happen to be pulled over in another state and have no paperwork giving you permission to travel. Just because your paper work does not contain any travel restrictions, I highly doubt you can just up and leave the state without repercussions. Sorry.
