It stands for Program Fuel Injection. It's not uncommon for the PGM-FI Main Relay to go bad on older Hondas. Over time, cold solder joints develop in the relay's printed circuit board. After checking for any codes, that's what I would focus on first.

Thank you txgreasemonkey that's what I have been trying to tell my ol man who won't listen. One more question? If I don't replace the relay will it screw me up in time or make my car have a ticking sounding different from oil or rod knocking noise

You really need to check for any codes, because it may not be the main relay. Instead, it could involve the oxygen sensor, Ignition Output Signal (Ignition Control Module), MAP Sensor, fuel injectors, Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, Intake Air Temperature Sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensor, Electrical Load Detector, or some other sensor. If your ECM has stored a code, it will help you isolate where the problem is.

If your car starts okay, you can hear the fuel pump run, and it doesn't cut out on you when it get warm outside, then the main relay is likely fine.

Does your car run okay? Besides the PGM-FI light being on, are there any other symptoms?
