    New furniture
We are in need of new furniture how ever my mother keeps putting off buying it because of the material. We are in desperate need of furniture with material that does not overly attract dog hair. Any ideas of material that does not attract dog hair?

To be truthful Rex, I can only think of leather any material is going to attract dog hairs, but with leather it will just slip off.

My daughter has a labrador, who malts like mad, he only has to swish his tail and everything in his vicinity is covered, she has leather which seems to be the perfect solution.

The only thing about leather is we'd be scared that they would rip it.

Depending on your taste, if you get a thicker leather that has a bit of distressing that will hide any scratches your dog might do. If you get a good quality construction/upholstery job, you shouldn't have to worry about ripping it either.
If you want fabric, a good thing to do is take some samples home and rub them on your dog and see if hair sticks to it a lot. Sometimes getting fabric with a bit of a sheen helps, but it isn't always the nicest. I had a client that got fabric sofas with a smoother finish to it and the hair from her two labs hardly stuck.
    Hope that helps a bit!

I house sit frequently for some people who have quite a lot of leather furniture. They also have three, large dogs. The leather on the furniture is thick. To my knowledge, the dogs have never damaged the furniture. I would think there would be more of a possibility of damage from a cat that still had it's front claws though.

Our dogs are not allowed on the furniture however if we are petting them they tend to put there paws on our arms and then I'd be scarred it waould slip and tear the couch.
