Company bought another, lead to reduced wages- is that legal?
My mother has worked for White Hen, a chain of convenience stores, for over ten years. The White Hens, all of them, were bought by Seven Eleven. They cut her hourly pay by over two dollars per hour. The store where she works is located in DuPage County, Illinois. The particular store was owned by a franchisee, then sold back to WH corp. then SE bought all the WHs, then the individual store was sold to a franchisee, who then sold it back to SE corp. due to breach of contract on SE's part. As soon as SE corp. took over her pay was dropped, then a manager gave her a raise of about fifty cents per hour. When the manager left the raise was rescinded by SE corp. Was any of this legal? If she has recourse, what is it?

Unless she is in a union - and she is obviously not - yes, it's at the discretion of the employer.

    Unfair but not illegal.
