    Deed for mineral rights
My mother had deeded (& recorded) a 1/3 interest in mineral rights on 200 acres (in Fayette Co,Pa she inherited this from our father), conveying her interest to my sister & myself, with a life interest to her, in 1985. How easy will this be to get this in our name now that she has passed or does it even need to be done? It seems it would just be showing death cert. & getting mothers name off. Will there be any inheritance taxes on this, (someone said there may be some kind of an inheritance tax on mothers life interest) & approx how much would the taxes be? I have been googling this but can't seem to find any info.. This hasn't been leased in a number of years. We live in Ca so we will have to do this long distance, unless we wait until one of us goes back there if this is something we can do ourselves maybe & how? This originally was my grandmothers, who left 1/3 to each her children, one being my father. We do not own the land. What do you think we should do & how should we proceed on this?

This deed along with any other deeded proprety, house and so on, will all go though probate court and the judge will have a new deed issued.
