If you're referring to a webcam or a camera built-in to a monitor, etc. well frankly they tend to suck for still image capture. The resolution is low and for video this is less of a problem as the image is always moving. For a still image, however, you can see just how much detail isn't there. If you have a focus issue and blurry images, there are usually adjustments on the camera for that and perhaps lightness/contrast. Your post did not provide specific device information.
