Is it legal andacceptable for a therapist and patient (who is also a therapist) to be colleagues sharing professional ideas and research after the pay-for - fee therapeutic relationship has ended permanently?

I think it would be OK as long at the therapist/patient didn't suffer from a condition unacceptable for a therapist to have, such as schizophrenia.

I think many therapist go to therapists to talk about depressions and how to deal with the death of a spouse... things like that.

Thanks for your input. I too come from a psychology background and think the same thing. I have overcome a problem with PTSD due to severe family disfunction and I am still working on bettering my ability to communicate when I experience a small trigger. I have improved a lot and probably could stop therapy but want to be sure my own issues don't negatively affect patients. Given this I wonder what someone from a psychiatrist background would say about my question. Maybe you have knowledge about this based on your professional experiences and related conversations. Or maybe a psychiatrist online does also. If so please see original question first.
