Need to file taxes (in 30 days) for 1998 through 2006!
I need to help a friend file taxes from 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 1998, the most complicated one, he bought stocks and bonds (no profit, though---but, never filed those). What forms do I use, can I use them online? Some years he made good money (over 100,000 and some he was unemployed. And, I need to get his income statements from the IRS, for most of those years listed. I have looked at the IRS.gov site... and he was told by his agent that the service center is in Austin. Well, online, I found a different location. Does anyone know anything? Please help, we have 30 days to attempt to fix this mess!

    1. For 1998, if his total income was less than the filing requirement, then you friend is not required to file tax return. For stocks he can submit profit and loss statement from the broker showing his total profit and loss for that year.
    2. Previous years returns can not be e-filed.
    3. Give IRS a fax number and ask for transcripts for the years they can provide. It will have information of his W2s, 1099s...
