    Roof/shingles or metal
I have a roof that drops 9 inches in 13 feet. Can I use regular shingles instead of rolled roofing? If I go with metal panels, can I fasten them right to the new felt or do I need the 3/4 inch strips.
    ? Thank you offshoreone

Your roof pitch is less than 1/12 and the minimum for shingles is 2/12 so scrap that idea. The metal roofing manufacturers have their own requirements for their product, the strip is normally required to allow for some air circulation. What brand are you considering?

Shingles at ridge line on new roof are very bizarre [ 6 Answers ]

I am by no means experienced at evaluating roofs, but we recently had a pump house constructed and the shingles at the ridge line are very odd looking to me. They don't look like the shingles on the house, or anybody else's pump house that I can tell. It's cold here now, so if the shingles will...

Just had a new roof installed with all new plywood etc. Looks like a fine job except that most of the shingles do not lie 100%flat on the bottom. Someone told me that it's because the weather is still cold (it was installed beginning of December in NY) and that if it were warm, that the shingles...

Metal flashing under shingles? [ 3 Answers ]

We are about to roof a newly constructed barn. I have noticed on an older building we have that no moss grows below skylights that have metal flashing but grows heavily elsewhere. I was wondering if anyone inserts a row of metal under the top row of shingles the whole length of the roof to prevent...
