    Have $7,000 in collection
Hi, about 2 years ago me and my girlfriend got a joint card. We used to basically live off. Over a year ago we could no longer pay it. We are both student in college, and have lots of other bills. I can pay all my other bills that I have so I am not worried about them, but latley the collection agency has been really calling me a lot. Started to call my parents house as well. They have been calling for about half a year and I never called the number back because they never said who they were and what they wanted. When they called my moms house I decided to call them up. She said that the 7400 account could be settled for 4400, but I have no way to get that money. What can I do? I tried getting loans, my credit is way way to stretched out. I tried getting some from family, they are all broke too. I gave her a 500 "good faith" payment... on another card. What can I do, or more importanly what can they do??

    Hello Superfly5203

If you don't start paying this debt down , I will tell you what will happen after they get tired of you not paying they will most likely take you to court, If you ignore the court date a default judgement will be entered against you and then the trouble really starts. This will give the creditor legal ways to get their money such as "freezing" your bank accounts or if your state allows wage garnshment Also if you make any agreement with this company to pay this debt GET IT IN WRITING. Now you see what living off a credit card can do. Maybe you and your girlfriend can get a part time job and try to start paying this off because it will not go away by its self
