    Minimum wage
I am currently working at a restaurant in Wisconsin and I am 17 years old. I started in October 2007 and is now June 2008. I am making minimum wage which is $5.90 an hour. This is not a high class restaurant but it is not a McDonalds or anything close to that. I was wondering if you think that I should get paid more for the amount of time I have worked there. I think I am doing a good job at work so its not like I am doing something wrong that is not making my boss give me a raise. Also if anyone knows when minimum wage is going up in Wisconsin and how much let me know.

    Thanks
    Erica

If you're working on a system where you receive tips, then you're getting paid quite a bit. Servers/hosts/parking lot attendants/delivery make way less than that, around $2.50 an hour.

If you're a cashier and are not getting any tips, then perhaps after some time, you can ask for a raise.

However, in Wisconsin, the minimum wage is $6.50 an hour, and has been since 2006. I'd double check, but this is what I was led to believe. Also, in July 2009, it will go up to $7.25

The restaurant that I work at does not recommend people leaving us tips because we get paid higher than people that make tips. In Wisconsin minimum wage for a person 18 and older it is $6.50 but under 18 it is $5.90. I will turn 18 May 12 of next year.
