    Removing the adult child
My Stepdaughter is going on 21. Is irresponsible, lazy and will not help clean up the house. (She is allergic to emptying the dishwasher and putting the dirty dishes in it.) She works less then 20 hours a week and has openly stated that it is "our fault that she can not get a better job as we have not supplied her with reliable transportation." She has refused to help with the bills as she is on the "family plan. " She spends her time in her extremely dirty room, or with her boyfriend.

I live in Florida and the rules from what I can find are confusing. They are confusing from the stand point of that she has lived in the house since 4th grade, and there is no written lease. I am really unsure how to go about it right now. We can not afford a lawyer right now as finances are really tight. I also can not find information that would tell me how much this is going to cost. If there is anyone with some insight, we would greatly appreciate it. Also, if the house belongs to my father in law, (he has remarried and lives near by) but we live in it, pay the bills, etc. who files the paper work?

We keep encouraging her to just move in with him as she hates us, our rules -which are not hard to follow, and the fact that we do not "respect her and her needs" but it has not worked so far. We are simply tired of her BS and I am over it. If it was legal, I would pack up her things and and deliver them to her boyfriends house. I would rather throw them to the curb but I do not think that would be legal. I do not want he to have a leg to stand on ground wise.

    Please help me!!

Your best bet is to start a legal eviction. Go to your local court house or housing court and they should be able to tell you the process and provide forms to complete (or tell you where to get them). You can do this without a lawyer, and the expense for court filings should be minimal.
