    Craftsman Riding Mover
I have a Sears Craftsman riding mower with the Kohler Pro engine (purchased in 2004). After running for 5 minutes, it loses power and dies. It has been doing this for 6 weeks. I have done the following:

    --Replaced air filter and pre-filter
    --Replaced fuel filter
    --Replaced oil and oil filter
    --Replaced battery (battery died)
    --Replaced spark plug
--Add fuel stabilizer to the gas (in case I have water in the fuel line)
--Adjusted the fuel idle and fuel mixture settings.

    None of this has helped.

The mower works fine for the first 5 minutes, but it then dies and I have to wait at least 5-10 minutes before I can start again and watch it die after running for 5 (or so) minutes.

    Please help. Thx.

Sounds like fuel starvation because the fuel tank isn't vented properly. Try putting a shim with a slot in it under the cap, or 3 layers of aluminum foil at one point under the screw cap, and if it solves the problem temporarily, find out why the vent isn't working, for a permanent fix.

Time to take apart the carb and clean it.

Fuel stabilizer won't do anything for water in gas.

It also has to be added prior to fuel going bad.

If your using an ethanol based gasoline, there really isn't a need for "dry gas".

Thanks. Is there a web site that provides directions for removing, cleaning, and installng the carburetor for the Kohler Pro? I have not been able to find directions (on the web) for doing this.
