    Yellow is hot, right?
    Hi,

    I'm installing a light fixture and forgot which wire from the outlet box is hot. The two colors coming out of the outlet box are yellow and white. The two colors on the fixture are white and black.

    I want to go black to yellow, and white to white, right? I just want to be real sure...

    Also, this fixture has two bulbs and two blacks and two white wires. I'm assuming it's OK to connect the two blacks to the one yellow from the outlet box, and the two whites to the one white from the outlet box? I'm not sure why they didn't wire the fixture with a single black and white.

    I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Sometimes yellow is used as a hot wire. But usually you would not see that in a residence.

    Regardless, I would connect the yellow to the black and then White to White.
