    Hampton Bay down rod
I purchased a Hampton Bay Altura 68" ceiling fan at Home Depot. I need a down rod in a four to six foot length. Home Depot did not have a finish match. Is there an online site were I can purchase a matching down rod.

What is the finish? Home Depot is the only place to purchase Hampton Bay products, and I don't know that any other manufacturer would match their finish. You can try Minka dealers as some Hampton Bay products are made by Minka.

I had the same problem. I bought a down rod the length I needed. I think it was brass. I then took a fine sand paper and roughed up the surface. After cleaning it off I spray painted it with two coats of Rust-Oleum Painters Touch Satin Espresso. Also from Home Depot. The colors are very very close. I can see they are not exactly the same, but I would bet my paycheck that no one will ever come into my house and notice. I have include pictures for you to see. I saw your post because I was searching for a light kit for mine. Good luck.

That's actually a nice looking fan. The downrod matches well.

I don't believe you can attach a light to that fan if it did not it include one. I will do some research and report back if I find anything.

Just talked to my local Home Depot and they "JUST" came out with a lite kit for this fan. My store didn't have it in stock, but it's available - or will be real soon. Didn't get any details, but certainly your local store can help!

For a downrod that long, you might have to join 2 rods using a coupler. Check out the following link for Mink Aire downrods:

Minka Aire Ceiling Fan Accessories, Minka Aire Downrods, Minka Aire Ceiling Medallions

They also have couplers for linking 2 downrods together. They have many finish options available and you should be able to match the color.

Minka makes many fans for Hampton Bay so some of the colors may match.

I'll add, downrod couplers make me nervous, they are perfectly common and safe, but not as safe as one single downrod.

Escdigital - we recently purchased two of the same fan that you have in the photo above. We bought the fans from Home Depot. We also bought the lighting kits that go with this fan. Our problem is that the downrod (Swanson brand) that Home Depot sells, is not compatible with the fan. The screw holes that attach on either end of the downrod are not in the right location. Where did you find your downrod?

Also, what is the slope of your ceiling in the photo? It looks similar to ours. We have a 8/12 slope. Did you have any problems installing with your slope?

    Hi!

We were able to drill new holes in the downrod. Thanks for your advice. You would think that the Home Depot would make sure their products are COMPATIBLE before putting them on the shelves for sale.

    Thanks!

I just noticed the message at the end of your post. We just finished renovating our whole house and took down four ceiling fans. Are you interested in them?

They get the downrods from a different vendor than the fans I believe.

Possibly interested, email me some pictures :)
