    Replace power window motor 2004 mercury monterey
    How do you replace the power window motor on a 2004 mercury monterey? Do I have to take out the regulater?

    Yes, the regulator has to come out. And the glass needs to be secured in the up position before the regulator can be removed.

    The regulator is fastened with HUGE rivets to the inner door panel. A special rivet tool is needed to reinstall the regulator.

    Also, the regulator has a clock-spring mechanism to assist the UP function. That is the most dangerous aspect of this type repair when replacing the motor separately. If you're not familiar with how to remove and replace that spring, consider replacing the regulator as an assembly, like from a salvage yard or auto recycler.
