    A trap primer meters water to a trap that's not generally in use such as a floor drain. It's function is to put back any water that may have evaporated in the trap seal and to contain sewer gas from entering your home. Nothing will occur if you shut it off but the trap seal will be unprotected. Good luck, Tom
