You need to flush your fuel tank, fuel lines, change the fuel filter, and clean the carb. Then you need to remove the spark plug, (with wire taped up and away from cylinder head), and turn engine over to remove excess from the cylinder. Then crank for about three minutes, drain oil, do the same thing with the spark plug again. Then put in fresh oil. You may want to add an inline fuel shut off and USE it when not using the unit. What happened is that a microscopic piece of trash is holding the needle vavle open, flooding the carb, then flooding the crankcase.

The same thing has happened to my mower... could smell gasoline in the garage when nothing was open.
Traced the leak to the Troy mower, except gas was draining out of the front of the carburator. I didn't
Think about what was going on when I found the gasoline tank empty because I did a lot of mowing the last
Time I had it out. Putting a shutoff valve in-line and replacing the filter, is the best way to solve this problem.
Thank you. And if you were wondering why nothing happened with the gas in the crankcase oil, I had put
8 ozs of CMW's oil additive in the crankcase about 2 weeks ago; it worked !
