Deeds on a House 30+ Yrs Old?
Hello everyone! Im new to this site and looking for some help!

Im trying to help my grandmother out and I don't know much about real estate or the real estate laws...
My grandmother is 70 yrs old and she doesn't have a will and her house and a house her mother owned (which she now rents out) is not in her name. I'm trying to get things moving and get everything in writing for her, this should have already been done, but my mom didn't help and I'm 26 so I'm just now thinking about these types of things and trying to help out.

I have the will covered, I'm getting her the legal documents tomorrow so she can get that filled out.

The deed on these houses are another story her house is still in her fathers name and her mothers house is still in her moms name (I believe). But of course they are both past away now, but my grandmother has ownership of both houses, but the deeds have never been changed.

What do we need to do about this? We need to get this corrected legally in case something happens one day its all wrote down like my grandmother wishes.

    Thanks so much!

Welcome to AMHD. It sounds as though there are two estates that may never have been probated or administered: your grandmother's father's estate and your grandmother's mother's estate. I couldn't imagine facing this without a good probate and real estate attorney.

    Thanks so much!

I actually just talked to my mom and its my gmas moms house that isn't in her name. Her actual house is in her name, so no worries there.
But my gmas mom (adoptive mom) left it to her when she passed away. There was no will, but since my gma was the only child she took the house over. But here is another issue, my gma has been renting this house out. So they are worried they will get in trouble because they are renting it and its not in my gmas name??

I don't see any problem with the rental question, but she needs to get the property titled properly.
