Should I contact Credit Agencies to understand why my application was rejected?
I have just come into the country and decided to open a retail credit account with some of the popular retailers here (the kind they force on you to give you additional discount), but my request was rejected by the credit reporting agency. I got a letter to this effect from one of the retailers asking me to contact the credit agency to understand the reasons it was rejected. Is it worth doing this - will it create more negative points if I enquire?

First it was not rejected by the reporting agency it was rejected by the company you asked credit for, it only rejected you because of the info they got from the credit reporting agency.

So what type of credit report do you have, if there is NO credit, that could be the issue. If you have bad credit.

But if you just came into the county, don't have a long established work history, don't have a long residence history in one place, and no other credit, most likely that is it, but of course you can see what your credit report says

Because you were turned down, you can now obtain a copy of your credit report for free.

Follow the instructions in the letter you received and take a look at the report.

I believe that Fr_Chuck probably hit the nail on the head when he mentioned the lack of
Stability having just come to the country but there could also be incorrect information that you can get corrected.

If you have any specific questions when you get the credit report, visit us again.

    Good Luck!
