Bryant vs. Day and Night AC/Furnace
I have gotten bids from several companies for a gas furnace and central air. The Bryant and Day and Night dealers are the cheapest, although none of this is cheap. What opinions do you have about these companies? Should I hold out for Trane, Lennox?

Bryant and Day and Night are the same equipment made by the same parent company. There equipment is good.

Trane company might be a step above the Bryant/Day and Night.

Lennox can be a pain because many of the replacement parts can only come from Lennox limiting repairs sometimes to authorized dealers and that can raise the cost of repair.

MOST important than anything else is the quality of the company doing the install. Many companies can take a great piece of equipment and turn it to junk when they do not install it correctly.

Another important factor. The name of the brand is important but contained with in that brand are many models of the same size. So you have to compare apples to apples. Example a 13 SEER A/C system to a 16 SEER system. The 16SEER will cost more. A 80% furnace will be cheaper than a 92% furnace etc. This is just on brand name and just a example. If you have 4 different furnace brand names it is possible to have 16 or more combinations of equipment.

Bryant is not the same as Day and Night, although they are owned by the same parent company, United Technologies. Bryant is the same as Carrier, top shelf. Day and Night is the same as Tempstar (ICP) and is mid-tier.

I'm sure every tech has their own preferences. That being said I cannot stand either Trane or Lennox equipment. As HVAC1000 stated, the Lennox is more expensive to repair due to a lack of readily available parts and from my experience Trane is the same in that regard. When it gets into their commercial equipment it gets even worse!
