    Head of Household Filing Status
    Hi everyone,

The following is my situation and I would like to know if I am use head of household as filing status:

    Dependent:
    My sister
    She has a SSN
In 2007, she was studying outside of the US
Before she went to school last year, she used to work in the US with H1B visa and she is not a permanent resident of US
She didn't live with me for the whole 2007

    Support:
I provide support to my sister in the year of 2007 to cover more than half of her expenses

Am I qualified as head of household with my sister as my dependent?

    Thanks so much!

Sorry, I don't believe you do. I would suggest using one of the free-file programs out there and use their test. Internal Revenue Service then go to free file.

Your sister is not U.S. resident for tax purpose.
