    Fan installation problems continue
    Thanks for your replies.

I am not sure how to reply to specific answers but here is what happened since my first post. They have since decided that my 3way dimmer switch was not working properly and replaced it now my light does work, but not like it use to. My switch use to work if you turned it on/off when coming in my home and when you turned it on/off in the hallway regardless of where you turned it off/on. Now it will only work if the switch in the hallway is in the up position. So we have to watch where we turn it off because when we come in we may not be able to turn it on. Any Ideas??

Double position switching requires specific wiring, which seem to be wrong here.

Both switches are called a "hotel" switches.
Each switch has one COMMON contact and two output contacts.

The common of the first "hotel" switch goes to the live-hot wire.
The common of the second "hotel" switch goes to the lightbulb, directly or indirectly. Connect the other side of the bulb to the neutral ).
The outputs are interwired : upper contact to upper contact, lower contact to lower contact.

    Ready !

How this works : the power is at switch one is connected to the common. If you set that switch to `on` you power one of the two inter-switching wires. The other switch only connects one of the two wires to the lightbulb. If it connects to the activated wire, the lightbulb will light. If not , the light will be off.

Hope this helps you enough. If not, contact me by clicking on my handle.

    Success!

2 of the wires are reversed on the 3 way dimmer/switch. The odd wire goes to the center or common screw or wire.
One 3 way common terminal is always hot, and the other 3 way the common goes to the light.

Still not sure how to answer individual poster but this is in response to Credendovidis--sorry not ignoring anyone's responses, Just I have been working 6:30am-9:30pm so I have not been able to revisit my problem at home yet, but I am on vacation next week so hopefully I will be able to see what works. But I do thank you all for your responses just cannot always go online at work and the week before vacation is always the busiest.
Mea Culpa, must get back to work now. Thanks again!
