Best Friends Marriage is in Trouble
One of my closest friends whom I work with, her marriage is in real trouble. This morning she came in and told me that her weekend didn't go well that she had an amazing row with her husband. He called her names and said things to her that hurt her so much that she was thinking about going back to her parents house for the week to see how would things go. Would it help her marriage and would her husband see sense about what he said.
She told me that her husband abuses her & bully's her and she's not able to cope with it anymore that she's put up with it for this long that now she can't handle it. She doesn't know what to do now.
Her husband see is not working so he can't support the family and he's getting depressed over this. He has no family because he doesn't get on with them and he's been very self-pity within himself over this so he's in an emotional situation himself.
But my friend just can't handle it anymore, she's fed up. When she was taking the kids back to her parents house for the night, he gave her an ultimatum saying that if she goes he won't be there in the morning. I mean what kind of husband says things like that - if he truly loved her and his kids he wouldn't do that. So she doesn't want that but at the same time she wants to frighten him to let him know that she's not taking this anymore.
And I want to help her through this but as I'm not married yet, I don't have the experience as of what to say to her about it. Like what do I say, how do I help her get through it. Any help here would be so great

What kid of guy would say that? One that wants to manipulate his wife to feel guilty for what she feels is best. If he is not there in the morning good --then he made his decision.
She needs to get away for her sanity and maybe possibly her life and her kids safety.
He has the option to come to his senses and work things out. If he doesn't maybe she was better off without him.
Her staying there evidently isn't fixing anything so until he can come to his senses she needs to leave and hopefully that will be a wake up call.
His situation is no excuse for abuse.

Abuse is abuse. She needs to get out NOW!! Physical or verbal it is still abuse.
