Helping Someone With Severe Bipolar Disorder
My mother suffers from manic depression. She's had several episodes of mania and crippling depression in the past year. She improved quite a bit and even went back to work back for a while, only to relapse because she stopped taking her meds.

She just got a shot of risperdal, 25 mgs last week, and hasn't improved much. She still has lots of delusions and paranoid thoughts.

I was told that if she's going through menopause her hormones could make the situation worse. I think this might be the case.

Her MD moved out of state and now she won't find another one.

What would be the best thing to do? Wait and see if the risperdal works? If it is menopause, would the medications alone not be enough, maybe something other than antipsychotics are needed?

    Any help appreciated.
