Income Tax for my 17 month stay
    Hi

I needed a few clarifications regarding filing for my 17 month stay in the US on an L1 visa. For the year of 2006 I had already filed the returns. Can you please help me out with what should be done for the salary I was paid for the remaining five months in 2007.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,

You were resident for tax purpose in the beginning of 2007 and nonresident at the end of 2007. You will file as Dual Status resident. You will only get exemption of $3,400, and itemized deductions.
