My puppy dry heaves and won't eat!
I just got Sabina from the shelter about three days ago. She is 12 weeks and 4 days old. She is a beagle mix (to me she looks full blooded beagle, but the paperwork said "Hound mix").
I am feeding her a cup of dry Purina puppy chow mixed with a 1/3 of a can of pedigree puppy lamb and rice moist food. I feed her at 9:30 at night (that's when I get home from class) and at about 8:30-9:00 in the morning, just about thirty to forty minutes after we get up. When she first came into our family, she was a treat fiend. She would get excited and jump up, tail wagging to get her treats.
Her first night home, Friday, she ate healthily and slept soundly in her kennel all night with no problems. She had a normal stool the next morning (aside from the extremely strong foul-smelling odor. I'm assuming that its from the switching of her diet.)
At breakfast she ate only half of her bowl. She didn't have any problems except that she only pooped once that day. At dinner she ate sparingly. When I let her out about 10-15 minutes afterwards, she did not poop. This was last night. I had to bring her with me on a short trip to a friend's house because I was going to be gone until morning. Inside there was one other dog, Pinky, who was healthy, no coughing, no diarrhea, no vomiting or dry heaving at all. There were three other dogs outside, but they were specifically outside dogs and did not come in the house at all.
This morning when I let her out at her normal time to relieve herself, she did not poop, only peed. When we got home for breakfast she ate half of her bowl again, but not too much long after she finished (much more quickly than I had expected) she did poop, but not much. Once again, I noted the extremely strong foul odor.
Every so often she will get hyper and playful, but after only one or two minutes of fetch, she tires out and lays down. She drinks plenty of water and is urinating normally, about three to four times a day. I noticed yesterday that she had a little bit of a cough which today has escalated into a dry heave that produced a foamy white puddle about the size of a quarter. She did it three times. The first time she was playing. The second and third time she was laying in her bed.:(
Sabina has an appointment at the vet for her initial visit on Tuesday. Today is Sunday. I'm extremely concerned because she hasn't had a bit to eat tonight and this morning she left most of her food in her bowl. When I put her water in front of her she lapped at it for only a second and walked away. She did pee immediately after drinking, though.
Is it normal for puppies to eat healthily the first night but suddenly just stop eating all together? I noticed her licking the carpet, which tells me that she has a tummy ache, but what's got my poor baby dry heaving? She's already underweight! What should I do?

Is she maybe constipated? The change in living situation, food, etc can be very stressful and may cause a dog not to eat and to be nauseous. She may have been normal at first thinking she was just on a fun outing, then everything stayed changed on her and she needs time t adjust. My dog doesn't eat for several days when we take him places for vacations even though we keep him wit hus instead of kenneling(except my moms where he seems to try to gorge himself lol)

She's not constipated. She just wasn't eating. I got her into the vet today instead of tomorrow, and he said she has a perfect bill of health. There were no internal parasites of any sort. Funny, she had a regular bowel movement this morning almost immediately after waking up and this evening after eating her entire bowl of food, she had another healthy bm. :) She was much more hyper today and was definitely more interested in play! She is doing so much better now! Thank you for your answer, you were totally right. Thanks for caring!! :)
