"would it be code??" No, Code calls for a 2" drain to be vented not over 5' from the trap. At 10' you're way outta code. I can see why you'd want to connect to the kitchen drain but choking the flow down from 2" to 1 1/2" at the connection isn't the best of ideas. You're setting up a restriction that rotting hair matted with grease can build up as a clog. Your choicebutsince you're going to hafta vent the shower anyhow I would look for a better connection. Let me know what you decide. Tom

Tom, the shower trap& drain are in a crawl space, I could remove the 4" clean out plug where the main line goes thru the wall and use a 4x4x2" to tie into, then put the clean out plug back in. I still don't have a way of venting

I fell a lot better about the layout already. You may drop the trap raiser low enough to install a 2" tee on its back in front of the trap and install a AAV(Air Admittance Valve) in the branch of the tee. The AAV must be installed upright. Just follow the directions that come with the AAV and the shower will be vented. Good luck Tom

The AAV will install between the trap and the drain line. Keep the AAV elevated as high off the tee as you can to prevent any trash or debris from fouling it. Regards. Tom
