What is pressure gauge on tank say. Pump cut off switch may need to be adjusted. Check to insure that all valves on lines coming out of tank are open.

What tank are you talking about? Would this be a galvanized pressure tank or a small bladder tank? Lots of water in WHAT line? The suction line,( the line to the wel), or the line from the pump to the tank? If you're running your pump dry you will burn out the seals. Please give us more details to work with. Regards, Tom

Suggest that you install a pressure gauge so that you know what's going on.
