    Honeywell gas valve SV9501M2528
My 12 year old High Efficiency Arco Aire Natural Gas is using an Honeywell gas valve SV9501M2528. The furnace often turns off. Just by juggling the 4 wire contacts on the valve will restart the furnace OK. Some contractors are saying that there is a problem with those valves. The problem is to find the right position for the 4 wire plug. Apparently a wooden match placed under the plug will keep it in place if you're lucky. After two months of adjusting the plug I was lucky to get it going for about 1 week at the time. Has anybody found a better solution beside changing the complete valve!

If the contacts are corroded at all and difficult to reach female contacts, then I'd recommend sandblasting with glass beads. Make sure the contacts are tight.

Although, I can't find it, there are silver contact enhancement coatings that can be applied to contacts from a jar.

Tweek or stabilant-22 http://www.stabilant.com/might work as a contact enhancer, but I'm not sure.

If, you can't find anything, dialectric grease or even Vaseline (R) will help fight corrosion.

You have to get the connections tight and free from oxidation first. The first application of the connector may remove he oxidation and vaselene and the dialelectric grease or Vaseline (R) might prevent further corrosion.

It might be a manufacturing defact having to do with grosely dissimilar metals.

You could also plate the mating male contact with a en plater the same material as the female or you can electroless plate both contacts gold. But that requires a contact free of oxidation. If it's bress or copper, it will need a pre coat of nickel. See Plating Kits Electroplating Kits Aluminum Anodizing Kits Powder Coating Systems Metal Polishing And Buffing Supplies - Caswell Inc..

We use a regency Gr55-3 ~20,000btu gas fireplace for heating our bedroom. Its about 10 years old and has given us no trouble before. The gas supply line is a small (3/8"?) flexible copper tube that runs about 40' from a prv. I believe the prv lets pressure down from 2psi to a few inches of...
