Filling taxes F1 married to an american
    Hi,
I am an F1, I graduated in may 2007 and started working in July of 2007 on my OPT. meanwhile I was filing my papers with the immigration and I got my work permit in January of this year based on my application to adjust my status from F1 to an alien resident through marriage. At this point, I have not got my green card, so how do I file for my taxes i.e as an non alien resident. Or otherwise. I want to file the jointly with my spouse.
    Thanks

Were you married on or before 31 December 2007?

If so, then you can file jointly with your souse if he/she is a resident alien or U.S. citizen.

For 2007, you can also file as nonresident and your spouse as Married Filing Separately.
