    German passport
I was born in Germany in 1948 and came to Canada with my German parents in 1956. We became Canadian citizens in 1967 and my parents applied for our whole family. I was wondering if I still have my German citizenship. I did not willfully give it up. I would like to get a German passport. I have 3 grown children and a wife all born in Canada. If I am still a German citizen does that mean that they also can get German passports?

You are a Canadian citizen, not a German citizen any longer. You can contact the German consulate and ask them about getting a German passport, but I doubt if they will comply.

Why would you want a German passport, it just makes life harder. I am a German citizen living in Canada as a landed immigrant for 33 years. Every time I travel it is a pain in the royal patutee. If you are a Canadian citizen it only makes things easier to have a Canadian passport. As to whether you are still a German citizen, back then you were still allowed dual citizenship but only if your parents or you requested it at the time. Dual citizenship is no longer permitted to German citizens wishing to become Canadians and vice versa. Hope this helps.
