No Heat on 417 kenmore dryer
Hello, seems I am not the first to ask, but so far no one has got the correct answer.
In the manual it says that there are 2 house fuses in the dryer circuit.it says,The drum will turn but the heater will not operate. It then says to replace the fuse. However it does not tell you where the dryer circuit is! Would you be able to tell me what it is, then mabye I can find our where it is. Thanks in advance. I forgot to mention it is a gas dryer..

YOur dryer circuit is the breaker or fuse box. Check to make sure you have 220V at the dryer outlet. The thermal fuse is located on the rear side of the blower housing. I would first test the element for continuity first. Always test parts before condeming and replacing

When you say "so far no one has got the correct answer" it sounds like you have

Read a book, and are expecting a text book answer. In troubleshooting a dryer it

Helps if you think of it as two processes 1. spinning 2. drying You close the door,

Set the timer, push the start button -- and it spins. If it doesn't make noises or tear

Up your clothes it is fine. The drying part is like a toaster -- you start the dryer up

The heat element gets very hot -- most of the time the dryer problem is the heat element

, but the wiring terminals and wires get very hot near the element -- and heat sensors

Can go bad or breaker can trip -- indicating a shorted condition in dryer that needs to

Be repaired before resetting... Most people who write books teach, and have never

Tore into a dryer when it breaks down... Usually the first step is to see if you have

Power to the dryer -- hope this helps

Just wanted to mention two more things --- OVERLOADING DRYER

Failure to clean out lint filter -- TWO REASONS -- FOR DRYER FAILURE

Most people have problems explaining exactly what is happening

Since we can't see your dryer or test your dryer it is a guessing game

Does anyone have a schematic on this dryer. I have the same problem and can not find the fuse. Where is the blower housing found? Front/back? Top/bottom?

I just had this very problem with my Dryer; I called Sears and asked them where in the world is the Fuse (because the book said that the solution was replace fuse. The customer service attendant had to do some research as well. She couldn't find it on the parts sheet. Then she said actually the whole Heater Housing Assembly needed to be replaced... $135.41 (Cabinet/Drum) 15# part no. 131553900. Time for me to get to work with research online.

Hi, our kenmore 417 elec dryer only works on the high heat setting. I don't think it has full heat even at that setting. The vent is clean and open. Could it possibly be the thermal limiter? Thanks
