    Kenmore gas dryer 417.92042101
    My Kenmore gas dryer 417.92042101 is not working. The motor runs but the drum do not rotate. Upon looking inside of the dryer I notice the belt is not broken and the tension is still tight. Also, when it first starts up the drum rotates just a little (I mean a little) then stops. After two or 3 times it cuts off. Also you smell and barely see a little smoke coming from the motor. In addition to your advice I would appreciate if someone can send me a diagram because I have no idea what is what and how to do the repair myself. Thank you all very much for your help. p.s. hixton, the belt is not broken and is tight.

    Sounds like the motor is shot. Diagrams available for ored through Sears parts. Or you might get lucky and do a Google search.

    Replace the motor. You can order new one from Appliance Parts from RepairClinic.com - HomePage
