Do you have a diagram on how a Whirlpool Electric Dryer's electrical plug attaches to the back of the dryer?

This should show you what you need -- hope this helps

    Older dryers had 3 prong plug -- wiring at terminal is -- L2 - HOT ___ N- Ground ___ L1 - HOT

    Newer dryers are 4 prong plug --wiring at terminal is -- L2- HOT ___ N- Neutral ___ L1 - HOT ___ GROUND - CASE

If I were wiring a 4 prong plug I would remove strap and put ground where it is on the case -- GROUND
