Older dryers had 3 prong plug -- wiring at terminal is -- L2 - HOT ___ N- Ground ___ L1 - HOT Newer dryers are 4 prong plug --wiring at terminal is -- L2- HOT ___ N- Neutral ___ L1 - HOT ___ GROUND - CASE If I were wiring a 4 prong plug I would remove strap and put ground where it is on the case -- GROUND Appliantology Archive: Dryer Cords Please rate my answer |

I have a whirlpool electric dryer model number gew9868kq0. When I have a little load it dries OK in auto mode. When I have a med to full load I have to start it up a few times to dry in auto sensing mode. Any help would be great... Mike
