    Cooking & Finances.
On the weekdays, my wife works late (comes home around 7-7:30pm) so I make dinner (and I happen to enjoy cooking). On the weekends we eat out. However, with this schedule my wife doesn't cook. Is it wrong for me to expect my wife to cook for us once in a while at least? The reason I'm asking is because we spend a decent of $$ eating out when it could be saved. Usually, I like to pay but she pays if I tell her I'm poor (usually after paying the monthly mortgage) which is nice of her. Lately, I've been feeling it would be nice to have a meal prepared by my wife instead of going out all the time. She basically more or less won't cook or the thought doesn't occur to her... instead she'll just ask me if I'm hungry which basically means "let's go out" and eat. So, last night I mentioned to her it would be nice if she cooked once in a while. She immediately said she couldn't on the weekdays and I know she rather eat out on the weekends which means I'm not getting anywhere with this situation in my head. Any suggestions on what can be done or should I just leave things the way they are and continue spending $$. Don't get me wrong. I like to go out to eat also but sometimes it would be nice if she cooked a hot meal and we ate at home. As I mentioned I enjoy cooking but not everyday. I will get burnt out.

I cook four nights a week, and my husband cooks two... the other night, we have leftovers. I cook twice as much as he does because I don't work, and I'm here more than he is. He cooks on his days off, though, which is a nice break for me. It was never something that we had to discuss, though, because he enjoys cooking as much as I do, and it was something he just took upon himself to do.

I would suggest that you just sit down with your wife and tell her straight out that you would like it if she were to start cooking on the weekends now and then, maybe starting with a couple of times a month and gradually increasing the frequency. Sometimes honesty is the best policy, rather than just beating around the bush.

Thanks for your response Momma to three :-)

It's nice to hear you and your spouse share in the cooking which is what I would imagine it would be like :-)
My wife really doesn't take part in the cooking which would really be appreciated on my part.

I guess it was something in my thoughts for a while (on and off) and it started bothering me lately... except when I'm not poor :-)

My wife was asking me lately what was wrong because she can tell if I'm acting strange. So, when I told her she became upset. She said she doesn't expect me to pay when we go out so it kind of made me feel like I should've not said what was on my mind, however, like you said honesty is the best policy and don't beat around the bush with things. So she didn't talk to me for the rest of the night. I felt bad about the situation but I also know this situation is bothering me which is why I thought I'd make a post for any suggestions :-)

I asked if we could take turns cooking each week. She said should couldn't. I don't know. I don't want to keep forcing the issue either.
