Kenmore dryer - no heat on second cycle
I have a Kenmore Elite Dryer(110.64972301). It occasionally does not dry the clothes although the drum turns and the timer runs.
After some investigation we found the following. The first drying cycle works fine, long or short cycle. If we run a second cycle shortly afterwards, the heater element does not heat up. If we leave the dryer off for about an hour and then start the dryer the heater element heats up.

In case anyone was interested. The problem was an intermittent non switching Heater Relay. Power to the coil, coil was OK, however contacts did not close. Switched the motor relay and the heater relay. Heater is now fully functional and the motor is running. It will be easier to detect a non working motor than a non working heater. Ordered a new relay.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your post about switching the heater and motor relays. My Kenmore had stopped heating and I ran every diagnostic check, continuity check, ohm meter, voodoo check I could find -- everything checked out but no heat! Finally checked voltages on heater while running and convinced myself that wasn't getting any power there. Found your comment on relays and gave it a try -- bingo - heat but no motor! Going tomorrow to get a new relay - $40 is better than $800 for a new dryer! Thanks again for posting your solution, it helped at least one other person. :D:D
