    ID Moen shower cartridge
Please, if someone can tell model # of this cartridge?
It says Moen on the cover plate and it is 11 years old.
I need to know the model # to buy replacement and proper tool for pulling it out.

First you don't need a tool to pull this cartridge. Look along the sides of the valve body and you will see a clip ring that can be pried perpendicular to the valve body, remove it. Put the handle back on the valve and pull toward yourself and it should come right out. Take the cartridge with you to a home center or plumbing supply store. It looks like a Moen but I can't guess the model. Good news is they don't make a different cartridge for every faucet, many use the same cartridge.

    Thank you, will try this.
This shower has not individual water shut off, I need to disconnect whole house to do this.
That's why I wanted replacement ready in case I break old cartridge.

Ask for a Moen # 1200 or 1201 cartridge, (see image). Good luck, Tom

How do you know how long to heat the joint before you apply solder. It seems some of my joints are...
