    Dodge Spirit Radio Short
I will try and ask this as best possible but I am no mechanic. I have a 94 Dodge Spirit I bought it used. The kid that owned it before me had a really high tech radio in the car but I declined on buying it with the vehicle so he reinstalled the original raido. It worked fine for almost 3 months -- the other day I hit abump and the radio became static like between channels. I could not change the channel or even turn the radio off. When I stopped the vehicle it finally turned off and did not come back on. The next day the battery was dead and the car would not start. I got a jump and it started but now won't seem to stay charged. The battery is fairly knew. Could the radio have shorted the alternator or regulator out? Help please I am poor and cannot afford much. Thank you in advance for any help you may have to offer.

. Test all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Here's how:

. Remove the radio, making sure to disconnect the negative battery cable first.
. Clean battery terminals and cable connections.
. Remove battery and place on a charger.
. Check for any parasitic drain:

If the problem persists, have the alternator tested for free at most any auto parts store.
