    Dodge spirit over heating
1992 dodge spirit over heating Tempature goes up 3/4 on gauge or even higher most of the time it will drop back to 1/4 gauage then repeat cycle. Some times it goes all the way to Hot hang there for a short while then drop back to 1/4 or less. If it does not do this you can watch it cycle between 1/4 and 3/4 gauge as you are driving.

This problem started after I striped the teeth on the timing belt and had a garage replace the belt. They said the idle pulley on the belt caused the teeth to be striped.

It started doing this with the original factory thermostat after owning the care for three years with no problems. I have put in two new thermostats and the all act the same way.
No water in oil no oil in water. 50/50 antifreez mixture in system.

I would check the connections on the temperature sending unit. If that didn't solve the problem, I would consider replacing it. I would also check for mineral buildup/corrosion affecting the flow through the radiator. You may have to get the radiator rodded or replaced. Remember to use only a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and distilled water (no minerals).
