Have to give my daughter's cats away
For my daughter's 7th b'day, my husband and I promised her a kitten. We decided to get 2 for her and her little sister to share. We've had them for 7 months now and have grown attached to them, my daughters and I that is. My husband has grown to dislike them because they are into everything! They jump on everything, the computer desk, the kitchen table, and counters. He hates the cat hairs everywhere. We live in a small 2 bedroom apt and didn't realize it would be such cramped quarters with 2 active kittens jumping all over the place. Anyway, my husband has basically said it's either him or the cats. Of course for the sake of my family I had to choose him. The problem is I'm absolutely heartbroken that my daughter has to say good bye to her cats. We had promised her this for a year and now it's being taken away from her. She is in tears, as well am I. I'm trying to be strong for her, but as soon as she cries, I cry. Any suggestions on how to help a 7 year old (and a 36 yr old) get through this? I mean, we promised her that as soon as we get a house, we can look for another kitty that is better suited for us. She still cries.

Sure you can't give the husband away instead, I had a similar choice some years ago, and looking back, the cat should have stayed.

But cats can be trained somewhat, perhaps they should be looked into, also after taking them in, and making them part of the family not only is there a lot of emotional strain on the children but also the pets.

I think cats should stay, it is not right to break their hearts after you agreed to allow them to have the pets
