1990 honda civic 1.5L will not start
I Have A 1990 Civic That Will Not Start. The Last Time That I Drove The Car It Was Fine. It Has Always Run Fine No Problems.
I Have Changed Out The Igniter Unit And Replaced The Rotor Cap And The Distributor Cap. It Will Turn Over But It Does Not Seem To Fire Off. I Checked The Spark And There Seems To Be A Spark, Not Sure If It Is Enough. I Have Checked The Timing And With The Crank On Tdc The Cam Pulley Marks Are Parallel With The Cylinder Head (with The “up” Mark On Top) And The Rotor Is Pointing At The #1 Spark Plug Wire.

. Does the Check Engine Light come on and go off after 2 seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (position II)?
. During this 2 second interval, do you hear the fuel pump run in the gas tank?

. Test for codes.
. If the ignitor is new, I would also test/replace the coil. AutoZone can test coils and ignitors for free on their Well's machine. If the problem persists, I suspect sensors in the distributor are bad. This would require replacing the distributor housing--only use a genuine Honda housing. This link may help:

Thanks
I Will Take The Coil To Autozone To Test Or Replace. I Was Not Sure If It Was A Ignition Problem Or A Gas Problem. I Have Put A Small Amout Of Gas In The Opening On Top Of The Throttle Body And Tried To Crank It, But It Never Fires. Does This Mean That It's a Ignition Problem? What About The Pressure Regulator On The Fuel Line?

The odds are 90%+ that it's an ignition problem. Honda fuel pumps rarely go bad, despite many people replacing them. Here's how you can test the fuel pressure regulator, but, again, it's not likely the problem:

It is good practice, however, to replace the fuel filter every 60,000 miles or 4 years, whichever comes first.

Good job. We need to keep our environmentally-friendly Civics going for many more years.

I Had Another Question About A Problems With The Ignition Switch On The 1990 Honda Civic. I Need To Replace The Key Switch Assembly On This Civic. It Is Hard To Turn Off And On. Sometimes It Gets Stuck Either Off Or On. Have You Any Information About How To Change The Switch?

Is There A Way Of Changing Just The Key Cylinder On A 1990 Honda Civic, Rather Than Changing The Whole Lock Assembly?

I have read all the strings on this subject but need a little more information. I am getting an error code 8 which means that the TDC sensor is problematic. My manual told me to check the resistance between the C and B terminals on the 6 pin TDC connector on the distributor. This turned out to be...

A few days ago my car started acting funny when I tried to start it. It was acting as if the battery didn't have enough juice to crank the motor. I let it sit for 15 seconds, tried again, and was on my way. It did the same thing a few more times and finally on Tuesday wouldn't start at all.
