I have a B&S 16.5 that will only run at Idle and at Full Choke-I removed the carb and checked and cleaned the jets. When advanced above idle it backfires out the exhaust. And then shuts down. It will restart but only in idle or full choke. Any Ideas?

Reclean the carb again, and again, and again if needed. It can be aggrevating, but you sometimes have to clean them more than once, twice, etc. and don't miss the small holes inside the throat that goes to where the welch plug is located.

Thanks- I have never soaked it in carb cleaner yet. I will do that. But an hour or so ago I made an ajustment on the governor. I had no clue of what I was doing but it seemed to make it run better, but did not solve the problem.
