Dear Expert,

Two days back, after checking my urine and blood, my doctor confirmed that I am 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant and I was extremely happy on hearing this. But now I do have another important concern and I somehow skipped asking this to my healthcare provider because I was so excited after hearing the positive result. I have not always been too keen to notice about the changes in the body until I suspected that I might be pregnant and last week in the night when I was trying to sleep (was lying down on my left) I felt a sudden pain under my left armpit and since it was unusually painful, I went to the mirror and had a look at it and noticed that the shape as compared to my right side looked as if it was swollen, though I'm not sure how the shape looked before. I was horrified, but I tried to calm myself down thinking that may be it's just a muscle pull or a symptom of pregnancy. The swelling and pain persists till date and when I feel the swollen place I feel like the mucle has swollen like a small, round lump as compared to my right under armpit. I have tried applying pain relievers, but in vain. The swelling is exactly in the joint where the armpit connects with the breast. I have also been having sore breasts in general. We don't have any breast cancer patients in the family history and I am now 25 years. I don't smoke or drink. And my physic could be termed as 'slim' and I have an ideal height and weight. Please tell me if this sounds normal and help me out of this terror so that I could really enjoy my pregnancy without any hard feelings.

I don't mean to scare you at all, but I would make another doctors appointment. I've never heard of that as a pregnancy symptom...

Anyway, I know you really won't be able to relax until a doctor tells you what's going on, correct?

Hi,

Yeah you are right and I went to the doc today... Thought this post would be more helpful to others who might be reading it if I let you know what finally happened. Thankfully, after examining me, my doctor said that there is nothing to worry and it's due to the rising level of hormones which always happens during pregnancy that the lymph node under my armpit has become a little bit more active and due to which I'm feeling sore in the area. The breast bone extends till the armpit area and so it's just as same as the sore feeling you experience in other parts of the breast during early pregnancy :)
