    Tax Liability to work in NY and live in NJ
    What taxes can you expect to pay if you live in New Jersey and work in New York?:confused:

    Tax returns need to be filed for BOTH NY and NJ.

    You will pay NY state taxes on income earned within NY state.

    You will FILE a NJ tax return, but, due to the credit NJ gives to NY state taxes paid, you should owe NOTHING to NJ for the NY-based income.
