    Kittens and eye problems
We had a cat dropped at our barn and she was very pregnant. She had 7 kittens. 5 died fairly quickly and two lived. We moved mom and kittens to home and both kittens had eyes that were caked with mucus and we were told by vet to gently wipe with warm sterile water and keep eye cleared as possible until eyes open. Eyes opened and one kitten's eyes fine other kitten has white moving kinds cateract looking thing in eye. Mom has been vetted and neutered now and we are wondering about the eye. We are getting ready to bring baby to vets to look but wonder if anyone has some info. Before going to our country vet who does allow us to be sensable in the treatment of animals that are dropped.

Sorry I think your best bet is the vet. I had just found a kitten on July 3rd with a nasty eye that was caked shut with hard stuff. The other eye is slightly open with a white looking coating over the other eye. I believe it's the 2nd eyelid. The kitten will probably be perscribed anti-biotics and an ointment for its eyes. Hopefully you cought the infection early enough to save its vision. If the infection gets bad enough, the kitten will have to have surgery. Which I have already been told will cost in around $300+. If the vet tells you they have ear mites you can use a few drops of mineral oil in ear and massage them. Don't forget to clean the yucky stuff out of their ears. It will help rid the mites a cheaper way then mite drops. My vet shared that wonderful tip with me.
