    Eviction of Dead-beat Kids
In Indiana, how does someone evict a family from a home that they are not required to pay rent on? A grandchild forced herself (and later her family) on my 82 year old mother on the pretext of caring for her. Since they moved in her health has gone down and she has since had a stroke and is currently confined to a nursing home for rehab for an indefinite period. The siblings are helping Mom financially by paying utilities and maintenance. The grandchild has on a couple of occasions spent almost every penny from Mom's bank account (she lives on Social Security only) and they make NO effort to pay for anything except some of the food they eat. They have also duped Mom into co-signing for a loan and have defrauded on it forcing her to make the payments. We have made Mom's funds unavailable to them (they would take her credit cards or use a check at Wal-Mart where signatures are not required for purchases under $35.00).

I do have a General Power of Attorney and Medical POA. What steps do I have to take to evict them, how long must I give them and who must serve them if an Eviction Notice is possible?

I'd contact the county sheriff's office and have them served with an eviction notice. The usual grace period is 30 days.
